Last week our Co-Founder Laura was invited to Starling Bank’s Life Admin Night, hosted by Laura Jackson, Founder and Creative Director of Glassette.
The setting was beautiful, the company was fun and the overarching message was very Financielle: Life Admin Can Be Aesthetic.

Typically, it’s boring. It’s dull. We put it off. It can mean digging through paperwork, trawling through old emails and lengthy waits on hold to call centres. Sometimes it’s the thought that puts us off more than the actual activity.
But can we afford to put off life admin? Starling’s research found that knuckling down and hosting your own admin night could save you up to £2,400 per year. When we’re in such a cost of living squeeze, that’s money we’d all prefer to have in our back pocket.
Helpful tasks could be creating next month’s budgets, setting up savings automations, comparing your insurance and utility providers on price comparison websites. It might be closing down old bank accounts, paying extra off credit card bills or finalising your tax return.
Our Financielle top tips for hosting an Admin Night:
✅ Get together with friends for accountability – M&S Picky Bits at the ready
✅ Share with the group what you’re going to complete by the end of the night
✅ Make a list and work through one item at a time – don’t multi-task!
✅ Save desserts as a reward and share with the group what you managed to work through
Whether you host a full-on group admin night, or a little financial self-care session for one – embracing these sometimes mundane tasks can help clear your mind, reduce stress and according to Starling, increase your bank balance. Romanticise the tasks.
Also, side note, you’d better believe I shared with the Starling team the famous Financielle sinking funds!
